The Galician audiovisual was presented on Monday, February 11, in Berlin, in front of the international film industry, in a meeting held within the framework of the 31st edition of the European Film Market (EFM)
, which took place from February 7 to 15 in parallel to the Berlinale, and which was organized by the Galician Audiovisual Cluster and the Axencia Galega das Industrias Culturais (AGADIC).
For the celebration of this special event, the organization chose again the Academie Lounge in Berlin, a locality located very close to the market venues, which this Monday brought together 200 professionals with the aim of intensifying relations between the representatives of the Galician audiovisual displaced and the international guest industry. This meeting allowed professionals to expand their contact list and detect potential clients or collaborators.
During the meeting several promotional videos of the Galician audiovisual were projected and the current edition of the Catalog of Services offered by the companies of the Cluster, that intervene in the whole chain of production of the sector, was distributed among the attendees.
The film "Elisa and Marcela" also featured a film with the director Isabel Coixet competing for the Golden Bear, shot in different locations in Galicia and with Galician participation through the Galician Television and the Producer Zenit TV, awarded one of the aid to the production of Agadic. The film, which tells the story of the two Galician teachers who managed to get married in 1901 in A Coruña by passing one of them for men, will have its premiere on the 13th at the Berlin festival and will be able to see the world on the platform Netflix.
On behalf of the Cluster, the Berlin meeting is an action carried out within the Galicia Exports Intermediate Organisms Program, with the financial support of the Instituto Galego de Promoción Económica (Igape), the Xunta de Galicia and the European Union.
Galician delegation in the EFM
A large Galician trade delegation, coordinated by the Xunta de Galicia through Agadic, participates in the 31st edition of the European Film Market, one of the most important in the sector worldwide, with its respective portfolio of titles both in project and in phase of production or already completed.
Among the Galician companies present in the German city are the members of Cluster Ficción Producciones, Filmax, Frida Films, Gaitafilmes, Matriuska Producciones, Portocabo and Zenit TV, as well as others such as Big Rights, Boneca Lareta, Esnatu Zinema, Filmika Galaica, Numax Distribution, Noveolas Producciones, Ollovivo Producións, Vaca Films, Vía Láctea Filmes and Zeitun Films.
The Galician delegation has its own space for the development of work meetings and the dissemination of its productions within the official Cinema from Spain pavilion, located in the Martin-Gropius-Bau, and promoted by the ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones and the Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales (ICAA). From this space, the new edition for 2019 of the Films from Galicia catalog is also provided to international sales agents, an escolma of 43 productions and fiction, animation and documentary feature films, as well as movies, series and television formats. as well as Shorts from Galicia, dedicated to shorts.
The EFM is one of the markets for the sale of the most important cinematographic contents in the world. Last year it gathered almost 10,000 professionals from 112 countries in Berlin, of which more than 1,800 were buyers.
