The Galician Audiovisual Cluster advances in the development of the AudienceLab Big Data project for the creation of a pilot to measure the audiovisual consumption of young people in the new platforms. This project focuses both on the implementation of a technological solution that allows the collection of audiovisual consumption data in the new platforms for the definition of audiovisual content, as well as the acquisition of high-level information that makes it possible to segment and define consumption patterns of young people.
The project aims to publicize the audiovisual consumption of young people, between 6 and 18 years old, in the use of new technologies such as social networks or onDemand distribution platforms, and how it has revolutionized the use of telephones smart phones and tablets audiovisual consumption.
The Cluster promotes this project, which has funding from the support program for the Innovative Business Groups (AEI) of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, and in which also participate the Instituto Tecnolóxico de Galicia (ITG) and the companies Adiviña Producións, Cinfo, Congo Producciones, CRTVG and Ficción Producciones. It should be noted that the great interest shown by all the participants in this project means that its continuity is already being considered and extended to more companies.
AudienceLab Big Data tries to capture, manage large volumes of data (BigData) of audiovisual consumption to later identify daily consumption routines through BigData Analitics techniques. In addition, the proposed system will allow a sociological profile of television consumption in young people on all platforms and in this way to establish the guidelines for audiovisual behavior.
To this end, a new technological solution will be developed that allows the measurement of the consumption patterns of young people in new technologies. This tool will be very useful for the audiovisual sector, offering a measurement system not available until now and looking for a demonstration effect for it.
In addition, this initiative will improve the innovation capabilities of the participating companies as the proposed product not only improves its immediate capacity to respond to the market, but also places it at the first step to address an ambitious program of digitization of sectoral processes.
